The AMR Awareness Inter PSA Patient Counseling Contest was an exciting event that aimed to raise awareness about antibiotic resistance (AMR). The local PSA’s, including the Antibiotic Knights from KNUST, participated to showcase their knowledge and skills in patient counselling
The contest had two main components. First, on Thursday, December 7th, all teams took part in a question and answer session about antibiotics and AMR. It was a chance for the teams to show what they knew.
Second, on Saturday, December 9th, the qualifying teams had an online patient counselling session. Each team was assigned a patient and had to provide counselling while being evaluated by the audience as judges. This session tested their ability to communicate well and address AMR concerns.
The Antibiotic Knights from GPSA-KNUST consisted of Phoebe Ababio, Samuel Atta Opoku, and Kwame Omari-Anim Danful. The contest was overseen by Shadé Alys Carlton, the Health and Projects Coordinator at PSFGh, and Manuela Coffie, the IRO at PSFGh and IPSF Regional Coordinator. Their guidance ensured the contest ran smoothly.
The results are still pending, but all participants will receive a certificate of participation to recognize their involvement and dedication to raising AMR awareness.
