ABOUT GPSA-KNUST

The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (GPSA) is a member Association of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) and the Pharmaceutical Students Federation of Ghana (PSFGh), and is affiliated to the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), and other organizations as may be identified with its ideals.

It is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization founded in 1961 after the establishment of the faculty of Pharmacy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, Kumasi which was the headquarters of the Association.

The GPSA was formed to serve as the mouth piece for the student Pharmacist and also to enable students to contribute their quota to health care delivery in Ghana.

The Association is governed by a twelve-member Executive Council, a Senate and the General Student body, whose policies are carried out through 14 different committees.

To be an internationally recognized and leading student association nurturing globally competitive, holistically trained pharmacists who are pioneers in advancing the pharmacy profession and addressing healthcare challenges in Ghana, Africa, and beyond.  

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students’ Association-KNUST, as the premier pharmacy students association in Ghana is dedicated to: 

1.Fostering academic, professional, and 

personal excellence among student pharmacists through innovative training and mentorship.  

2.Equipping members with the knowledge and skills to drive impactful advancements and expand horizons in pharmacy practice, research, and entrepreneurship.  

3.Creating platforms for collaboration, advocacy, and leadership to elevate the image and relevance of the pharmacy profession.  

4.Promoting the holistic well-being of members, enabling them to become transformative health professionals committed to sustainable development in healthcare. 

5.⁠Initiation and maintenance of well-structured administrative reforms to address the pertinent welfare needs of members.
