“Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.” — Psalms 24:7

This divine call for the people of the LORD to open their hearts and let Him in was the very core of Pharmakristo 24. Pharmakristo is a Christian event that offers a sacred pause and hope to believers in the midst of their hurried and overly busy lives. It provides a gentle reminder that the LORD longs to dwell amongst his people, and He beckons them with an outstretched arm towards his unfailing love.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so had everyone awaited the arrival of Pharmakristo 2024. The event took place at the Old Laundry, KNUST, on July 20, 2024. Following a slight downpour a little after sunset, which filled the air with freshness, the event kicked off, and a sense of renewal marked the start.

With the stage set, lights aglow, and everything perfectly in place, the event unfolded, drawing in a stream of attendees ready to be a part of the experience. There were beautiful and breathtaking displays by Joyful Way Incorporated, Therapeutic theatre, Therapeutic choral, Therapeutic Voices, and Medical Melodies. Together, their performance was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

Pastor Mykel Da-silver and Pastor William Kweku Addai, the guest speakers, shared powerful sermons, reminding the people that the Lord diligently rewards all those who believe that he exists, and seek him in faith.  As the people pondered over the words the Lord spoke to them through these vessels, their faith was greatly strengthened, and they were filled with eagerness to stay in the presence of God.

Honoring the call to be generous to the needy, the second aspect of the event took place at St.Joseph’s clinic in Abura, Ashanti region, where foods and essential medications were distributed, and medical expenses for those in need were catered for, putting unfading smiles on their faces.

Pharmakristo was deemed successful as it met its expectation of drawing people closer to God as well as providing assistance to the less privileged. The event did not only renew the faith of the people, but also met the pressing needs of society. It was indeed a day the Lord had designed that His people should rejoice and be glad in it.
