The Drug Safety Campaign (DSC), an event taking place over a course of five days seeking to bring together pharmacy students from across the country to promote safe medication practices, was met with active participation from Ghana Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (GPSA) – KNUST particularly in the Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation of Ghana (PSFGH) elections.
The event having its major highlight under the theme, ‘Innovating for Impact: Championing Safe Medication Use – Our Role in Public Health,’ was both educative and engaging. It played a pivotal role in hammering the core techniques in patient counselling; ensuring patient safety from safe use of medicines and educating the populace through counselling on the dangers of self-medication
The fourth day of the Drug Safety Campaign (DSC) hosted the much anticipated PSFGH electoral proceedings and as part of its strategy to gain influence within the student government and maintain the association’s commitment to supporting the federation. GPSA-KNUST presented capable, seasoned, visionary and transformative student leaders to contest and serve in various portfolios within the federation. The association also delegated dedicated representatives to participate in the democratic voting process, ensuring the voices and interests of pharmacy students at KNUST were effectively represented at the national level.
The elections marked an important moment in reaffirming GPSA-KNUST’s commitment to leadership, inclusivity, and active participation in national pharmacy student affairs. The recent PSFGH elections were conducted in a spirit of transparency, unity, and mutual respect. This success was made possible by the extensive involvement of its members, whose commitment to upholding order and discipline was instrumental in ensuring a smooth and credible process. These core values, demonstrated so clearly during the elections, continue to be a vital force in strengthening the bonds among the various member associations under the PSFGH umbrella.
GPSA-KNUST extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the newly elected student leaders: Akotey Philemon Elikplim Kwami (President), Bekoe Isaac Ofori (Vice President), Thelma Ayerki Kwabla (General Secretary), Krystyn Bruce (Treasurer), Priscilla Nweatena Buadi (International Relations Officer), Baah Nana Kwame Oduro (Public Relations Officer), Hadikatu Rashid Hamza (Health and Projects Officer and Kelvin Ofosu Ayeh Kwabena (Editor in Chief) who have been entrusted with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation of Ghana. The association is of the confidence that the newly-elected leaders would work diligently to uphold the vision of PSFGH, represent the interests of pharmacy students across the country, and advance the cause of pharmacy education and practice in Ghana.
Through its continued participation in such national initiatives, GPSA-KNUST reaffirms its dedication to nurturing future pharmacy leaders who are not only academically excellent but also passionate advocates for public health and professional excellence.
