The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association (GPSA) – KNUST, through its Office of the Secretary, successfully hosted the CareerX initiative modules in November 2025. The program, designed to equip student pharmacists with essential professional skills, brought together eager participants ready to enhance their capabilities for the evolving pharmacy profession. It was more than just training sessions; it was a celebration of professional growth, mentorship, and shared commitment to excellence in pharmaceutical practice.
CareerX represented the association’s capacity-building policy in action, addressing critical competencies in professional networking, effective communication, documentation, reporting, presentations, and career development. The initiative aligned perfectly with GPSA-KNUST’s mission to foster professional excellence among student pharmacists through innovative training, equipping students with knowledge and skills to expand horizons in pharmacy practice. The comprehensive program comprised modules on emailing etiquette, CV writing, LinkedIn optimization, PowerPoint presentations, and Microsoft Office programs—skills believed essential for education and professional success after pharmacy school.
On Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at 4:00 PM, Dr. Lois Obeng Atuah facilitated the inaugural session on Emailing Etiquette & Management via Google Meet. Participants learned that professional email practices reflect one’s tone, attitude, and credibility, while good etiquette builds respect and trust. Key takeaways included creating professional email signatures, maintaining professional tone, proofreading at least twice, setting email schedules, decluttering regularly, archiving or deleting irrelevant emails using folders and labels, and separating work and personal emails.
Building on this foundation, the session continued on Sunday, November 16th, 2025, at 5:30 PM with Benjamin Obeng Addai-Yeboah, Editor-in-Chief of PSFGh and Student Pharmacist at Central University. The PowerPoint Presentations, Slides & Posters workshop emphasized that presentations should not be too flashy with too many colors or animations, as these shift attention and focus. Participants learned that slides must not be packed, fancy fonts should be avoided, and audiences must always be engaged. The session also covered poster presentation techniques, including consolidating all details on one page, keeping content in points, and resizing to ensure proper fitting.
The true spirit of CareerX was one of growth and empowerment. In a testament to GPSA-KNUST’s commitment to member development, certificates were to be awarded upon completion of all sessions. Operating under the theme “Consolidating Our Gains,” the initiative continues into December, ensuring comprehensive skill development for participants.
