Biography
Janet Amissah Kwarteng’s Pursuit of Excellence Through Faith and Service
Janet Amissah Kwarteng is a compassionate and purpose-driven young woman whose life is shaped by faith, resilience, and a deep desire to uplift others. Currently a Level 500 Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Janet is known among her peers as someone who balances academic excellence with a heart for service. Her outlook on life is beautifully reflected in her favorite quote: “God loves each of us as if only one existed.” This belief reminds her daily of the value and uniqueness of every individual and inspires the way she treats others.
Janet’s journey has been strongly influenced by her educational experiences and the values instilled in her from a young age. She began her academic foundation at Christ Kids Academy in Atwima Koforidua, where she developed an early love for learning and discipline. She later attended Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ Senior High School in Kumasi, an institution well known for producing confident and capable young women. During her time there, Janet demonstrated both intellectual curiosity and confidence by representing her school as a contestant in the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). These formative experiences helped shape her strong character, leadership qualities, and determination to excel.
Today, as a pharmacy student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Janet continues to build on these foundations while preparing for a meaningful career in healthcare. Her dedication and academic excellence have earned her several distinctions within the pharmacy program. She was recognized as the Best Student in Pharmaceutics, and Best Student in Pharmacy Practice, achievements that reflect her commitment to mastering both the scientific and clinical aspects of pharmacy. In addition, Janet has been honored as the Overall Best Preclinical Student for the Rx27 class during the 10th White Coat Ceremony, a recognition that highlights her outstanding academic performance and leadership among her peers.
Beyond academics, Janet possesses a practical and creative talent for braiding hair, a skill she enjoys and uses to connect with others. This simple yet expressive talent reflects her patience, creativity, and ability to bring beauty out of everyday moments.
One of Janet’s greatest sources of inspiration is her older sister, Victoria Nyarko Kwarteng. As her role model, Victoria has influenced Janet’s approach to life, motivating her to pursue excellence, remain humble, and stay focused on her purpose. Through this inspiration, Janet has learned the value of perseverance and leadership.
At the heart of Janet’s ambitions is a powerful humanitarian goal: to feed and educate as many children in West Africa living in destitution as she can. She believes that access to food and education can transform lives and break cycles of poverty, and she hopes to dedicate part of her future to making this vision a reality.
Janet also finds inspiration and relaxation in entertainment and music. One of her favorite shows is How to Get Away with Murder, a gripping series that captures her interest with its intense storytelling and complex characters. Music also plays an important role in her life, especially the songs of gospel minister Dunsin Oyekan. His music is something Janet feels she cannot live without, as it strengthens her spiritually and keeps her connected to her faith.
In her free time, Janet enjoys hobbies such as listening to music, watching movies, and listening to true crime podcasts, activities that allow her to relax while still engaging her curious and analytical mind.
Another principle that continues to guide Janet’s thinking is the best advice she has ever received: “Success achieved is irrelevant to decision making.” These words remind her to focus not on past achievements but on making wise and purposeful decisions for the future.
In her personal life, Janet enjoys simple pleasures such as her favorite meal—rice balls served with goat groundnut soup. These moments of enjoyment reflect her appreciation for life’s everyday blessings while she continues working toward larger goals.
Through her academic journey, her compassion for others, and her strong faith, Janet Amissah Kwarteng hopes to live a life of impact. She desires to use her education, influence, and resources to uplift vulnerable children and contribute positively to society. Ultimately, Janet hopes that her life story will reflect dedication, generosity, and a commitment to making the world a better place.
