The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association (GPSA-KNUST) marks a significant milestone as it celebrates its 65th anniversary, representing over six decades of unwavering commitment to pharmaceutical education and professional development. This momentous occasion called for a distinctive visual identity that would capture the essence of the Association’s journey while inspiring future generations. The GPSA @ 65 Logo Contest was conceived as a creative initiative by the President of the Association, HE A.S.K. Yalley, to engage pharmacy students in commemorating this historic achievement through design, symbolism, and artistic expression.
The GPSA @ 65 Logo Contest was successfully launched as part of the anniversary celebration activities under the theme ’65 Years of Leadership in Pharmacy: Consolidating Gains, Inspiring Generations’. The initiative employed a comprehensive promotional strategy to maximize participation and creative output, comprising three key elements: digital publicity through
official flyer distribution, audio announcements across campus platforms, and engagement through social media channels.
The contest guidelines clearly outlined submission requirements, including a detailed logo breakdown explaining the design concept, the designer’s name, and their year of study. A monetary prize of up to GHC 500 was offered to incentivize participation, alongside the prestigious honor of having one’s design serve as the official symbol of GPSA’s 65th anniversary milestone. The contest framework was designed to be inclusive, welcoming entries from pharmacy students across all year groups, thereby fostering a sense of collective ownership in the Association’s legacy celebration.
The GPSA @ 65 Logo Contest yielded remarkable results, successfully translating its objectives into tangible creative expression and heightened anniversary awareness. The creative component of the initiative received 14 impressive design submissions from talented pharmacy students representing different year groups from RX26 to RX30, with each person submitting one logo. Each submission demonstrated originality, symbolic depth, and a profound understanding of GPSA’s heritage and mission. Following a comprehensive evaluation by the judging panel, one outstanding design was selected to represent the Association’s 65th anniversary.
Ebenezer Koomson (Globen) from the RX26 class was announced as the winner of the GPSA @ 65 Logo Contest. His exceptional design stood out for its creativity, symbolic representation, and alignment with the Association’s rich heritage and vision. Ebenezer’s winning design served as the official symbol of GPSA’s 65th anniversary milestone, marking a proud moment in the Association’s history.

Beyond the immediate creative output, the contest achieved significant success in its engagement mission, fostering excitement and anticipation among GPSA members throughout the competition period. Furthermore, the initiative served as a catalyst for strengthening student involvement in Association activities and provided a platform for showcasing the diverse talents within the pharmacy student community. This successful celebration of creativity, unity, and the enduring legacy of GPSA-KNUST demonstrates the vibrant spirit of innovation that continues to define our Association.
