The month of October is well known as Breast Cancer Awareness month and as is our tradition to wage war against established and potential health risks, GPSA joins the world wide crusade against Breast Cancer by making a conscious effort to create awareness of the dangers it poses.

This year’s Breast Cancer Awareness was christened “More than pink October ” and rightly so as it foreshadowed how adequately we had reinforced our arsenal in preparation for the battle. The crusade, led by the GPSA Editorial Board, Media Committee, Health Committee and Lady Student Pharmacist Association of Ghana (LASPAG), facilitated awareness creation through 3 main channels.

The first, dubbed “Did You Know Series “, was used as a means to educate the public on facts about Breast Cancer and debunk myths associated with the condition.

The second channel was poetry inspired by the subject matter which served as a creative and literary means of awareness creation.

The crusade was climaxed with a webinar dubbed “The Pink Space” which was held on X space on the 27th October, 2023 on the theme, ” Breast Cancer: The importance of a collaborative and concerted healthcare approach”. The purpose of this online event was to provide an avenue for students, as aspiring health professionals, to share expertise and knowledge from the various healthcare fields with regard to breast cancer. For this to be possible, GPSA collaborated with Medical Students’ Association (MSA), Medical Laboratory Science Students’ Association (MELSSA) and the Association of Diagnostic Medical Imaging, (ADMI) to share insight on the subject based on their professional backgrounds.
