” The mandates bestowed on us to be leaders are not our birthright. We only hold them in trust for the people we serve. ” These words by Dr. Naana Aboagye-Asare perfectly sum up the tradition of handing over ceremonies. It is a constant reminder of the fickle nature of positions of power and influence and that as trustees of such power, the day of accountability and reckoning impends.

On the 21st of December 2023, PSFGh held a virtual handing over and induction ceremony via Google Meet. The ceremony was themed, ” Ethics in Action: Empowering Student Pharmacist Leaders to Pioneer Innovative Change. “. The occasion was moderated by Miss Priscilla Nweatena Buadi (IRO, GPSA-KNUST) and Miss Salma Adams ( Editor-in-chief, GPSA-UDS) and graced by the presence of Ing. Asare Bediako (Secretary for Education,  NUGS), H. E. Mammy Saio Marah ( President, National Association of Pharmacy Students) and Dr. Naana Aboagye-Asare ( Hon. Treasurer, Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana) who also happened to be the guest speaker for the ceremony.

The former president of PSFGh, Dr. Kwame Agyena Boateng delivered, on behalf of the outgoing executives, a captivating speech of appreciation, apology and solidarity. The outgoing Chief Justice inducted the incoming Chief Justice who in turn inducted the incoming executives of the federation as the Constitution of the federation demands.

H. E., the incumbent president of the federation and former president of GPSA-KNUST, Master Samuel Kwesi Tenkorang Acheampong followed with an acceptance and assurance speech. The presidents of all 7 PSAs clinched their induction with words of solidarity.
