The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (GPSA-KNUST) officially began its journey toward marking 65 years of excellence, service, and leadership with the formation of a Steering Committee to oversee preparations for the grand anniversary celebration.
In a statement released on 29th September, the Office of the GPSA President, led by Master Albert S. K. Yalley, announced the establishment of the committee, which was tasked with planning, coordinating, and executing the 65th GPSA Week Celebration. The announcement marked the start of an exciting chapter for the association as it geared up to honor six and a half decades of impactful growth.
President Yalley expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver a celebration worthy of GPSA’s legacy in his statement, “Our goal is to make the 65th GPSA Week not just memorable, but truly impactful.”
The Steering Committee will serve as the central coordinating body, guiding all planning and execution efforts regarding the celebration. Its functions include setting the overall vision and objectives, ensuring alignment with GPSA’s mission, and coordinating the activities of various subcommittees. It will oversee budgeting and resource allocation in collaboration with other committees, approve major proposals and partnerships, and monitor progress throughout the planning process. The committee will also maintain high standards of quality, provide regular updates to the GPSA executives, and ensure every aspect of the celebration reflects GPSA’s excellence and unity.
The Steering Committee brought together representatives from across the GPSA community, including members from Classes Rx29 to Rx26, the Senate, Editorial, Media, Organising, and Health committees, as well as the Academic Board, Lady Student Pharmacists Association of Ghana, Pharmacy Christian Fellowship, and the International Relations and Sponsorship Committees. A faculty member and an International Students’ Representative also joined the team to ensure an inclusive representation.
At the helm of the committee was Miss Debby Tenkorang, the GPSA Organising Secretary, who was appointed as Chairperson in recognition of her commitment and leadership. Her appointment was met with optimism and excitement across the association.
Heads of various committees were requested to submit their nominated representatives by Friday, 3rd October, to facilitate the committee’s full composition and early commencement of planning activities.
The formation of the Steering Committee sets the tone for what will become one of the most anticipated events on the GPSA calendar. With unity, dedication, and vision, the association will reaffirm its commitment to excellence; celebrating not only how far it has come, but also the bright future that lies ahead.
Indeed, as GPSA reflected on 65 years of growth and leadership, the journey toward the anniversary stands as a reminder that tradition and progress walk hand in hand-a fitting prelude to a truly historic celebration.
